Applying to Illinois A Complete Guide

Applying to Illinois A Complete Guide Applying to college is key, and you want to get it right. It can also be a complicated maze full of twists and turns (including different requirements and deadlines for every school on your list!). Were here to guide you through the Illinois application process and out the other side. Illinois Dates Deadlines As you’re applying to colleges, the number of dates floating around your head can be overwhelming. Although you don’t want to miss an important deadline, you deserve to save your brain space for more important knowledgeâ€"like how to tame llamas in Minecraft. So without further ado, grab your planner and addthese dates to it. They’re the ones you need to know when it comes to Illinois. Application Pro Tip Don’t confuse our early action option with early decision options offered at other colleges (because yes, it’s confusing!). Unlike early decision, early action is what we call “nonbinding.” So if you apply early action to Illinois, you should receive your decision earlier than other applicants, but you won’t be locked in to attending Illinois unless you choose to. Youll also still have until May 1 to make your decision. The Illinois Application You can’t apply to a college without submitting an application, and there’s a lot to unpack in ours! Let’s dig in. Choosing Your App Type When you’re ready to begin your Illinois application, you have two options: You can apply throughmyIllini, our university application, orCoalition, a shared application that allows you to apply to multiple schools at once. We don’t care which one you choose, so pick the one that makes the most sense to you. Things You’ll Need Before you start your application, make sure you have the following things on hand: a copy of your high school transcriptall of your test score resultsa credit card to pay your application fee (if you don’t have a fee waiver) We also suggest a quiet place devoid of distractionsâ€"including any llama-tamingâ€"to help you maintain your focus. A pair of headphones and a good playlist (might we suggest ours?) can go a long way as well. Application Pro Tip Things you won’t need? Letters of recommendation or the like, since we don’t accept them. You also dont need to send official transcripts or official test score results our way; we only ask for the official versions of these if you enroll at Illinois. Stuff Our App Includes The majority of our application will be fairly easy to fill out, but it can take some time (so make sure you don’t wait until the night before a deadline to start!). You’ll begin by adding some personal information, like your name and address, where you go to school and your graduation date, and so on. We won’t get into all that here, but let’s touch on some of the more substantial parts. 1. Courses Grades We ask you to self-report your high school courses and grades, which means you’ll enter them directly into our application. Be sure to refer to that copy of your transcript we mentioned above so that what you provide is accurate. 2. Test Scores We also ask you to provide your scores for any standardized tests, like the ACT or SAT. As with your courses and grades, you will self-report these, entering the highest scores for those you’ve taken. (If you haven’t taken these tests yet, we have some advice onhow to tackle them!) 3. Major Before you apply, you can learn more about the majors we offer through ourprogram explorer. In our application, we’ll ask you to select both a first and second choice (in case you aren’t admitted to your first choice). If you still aren’t sure what you’d like to major in by the time you apply, we also have an undecided option. 4. Essay Ouressay prompt is available even before our application opens, which means you can knock it out early. Whenever you choose to start writing,we have some tips to help (spoiler alert: make sure you answer the question we’re asking). 5. Activities, Honors, Distinctions Finally, we’ll ask you to provide a certain number of activities, honors, and distinctions. Take some time to think about the things you’ve been involved in and the things you’ve accomplished. Whatever is most important to you belongs on this list! Application Pro Tip If you have any questions as you’re working, review our FAQ. You can also talk to your high school counselor, who can give you more guidance on how to answer certain questions. You can even ask them to fill out ourapplication worksheet as it pertains to your school. Additional Requirements Sometimes, students need to do more than just submit our application. For example, if you’re applying into a talent-based major like art, dance, music, or theatre, you’ll need to complete an audition or submit a portfolio. You canlearn more on our website. Your Application Status After you submit your application, it’s important that you check its status to make sure you haven’t forgotten anything. Seriously, there’s nothing worse than thinking you’ve applied only to discover later on that your application was never actually complete. You can confirm everything is good to go by clicking on your application in myIllini. Even if you’ve chosen to apply through the Coalition Application, we’ll create a myIllini account for you that you’ll use moving forward in the process. Applying for Financial Aid Although financial aid is a crucial part of the college application process, you actually have to apply for it separately. How? By submitting the Free Application for Student Financial Aid, or  FAFSA. To learn more about that process as well as other ways to cut your cost of attendance, read our  Guide to Paying for College. Note, though, that financial aid funding is only available to U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents. We hope this guide will serve you well throughout the Illinois application process. Passages for Comment Free Essays

B. 1) It definitely gives me a clear indication of the weather conditions. In london it was very misty/foggy, but as she slowly left london behind it started to thin out and patches of blue Rosamond Lehman uses many of the ‘fabric’ metaphors so we get to see how the mist looks, which is in turn, describes the mist/fog much better. We will write a custom essay sample on Passages for Comment or any similar topic only for you Order Now â€Å"Lentil, saffron and fawn left behind.† The words Lentil, saffron and fawn are all brown, orangy earthy colours describing London as she leaves it behind. London is all very built up and the the buildings are all very brown and dreary (linking back to lentil) â€Å"†¦but then the woollen day clarified†¦Ã¢â‚¬ , the word ‘woollen’ describes the mist/fog as wool which is a fabric that you cannot see through. The phrase, â€Å"†¦ drenched indigo muslin.† ‘Muslin’ is a very transparent type of fabric, so the mist looks very see-through . This fabric indicates a lighter colour change and lifting mist outside. â€Å"The skies amorphous material began to quilt†¦Ã¢â‚¬ The skies amorphous material are the clouds, which are beginning to thin out. The patches of blue in the sky which contrast to the white clouds are indeed like a quilt, with many patches here and there. 2) It could also be describing the condition she is in and the way in which she is feeling. She has just woken up and heard the bad news, which has thrown her mind into overwind. The heavy mist/fog outside could mean that she is seriously worried as she is weighed down with worry and concern. She is still half asleep and as she sees the billowing mist, this gives us a sort of foggy appearance of what she is feeling like (like someone who has just woken up and cant distinguish anything properly). The ‘Muslin’ fabric is telling us that her brain is not alert or sharp as she is looking, but not taking anything in. She is still in shock about the bad news and is still trying to wake up which further implies how she is feeling. C. 1) The sound and pace of the passage is very quick and fast flowing. Ernest Hemingway uses mainly two syllable words throughout, which adds to the already fast-flowing passage. This is vital in that the story needs to be quick, so that the character in the story can finish his book and so that we don’t get bored with the story line. 2) â€Å"All you have to do is write one true sentence†¦Ã¢â‚¬ I think what Hemingway is saying is that all you need to do is to write a proper, structured sentence in order to get your story flowing again. A ‘true’ sentence shows instead of tells, uses the five senses, uses strong active verbs, does not repeat oneself, doesn’t use unnecessary words and uses metaphors and word pictures. That is a ‘true’ sentence in which Hemingway describes. 3) I think that everyone has there own outlook on life, so we therefore all have different opinions on what something means. When Hemingway says that metaphorical language is ‘ornamental’, i have to agree with him, because it is a way of flowering up something and it makes people use their own imagination. Thus, all the metaphors will be will be completely different and mean other things to other people. I do associate transparent language to truthfulness because you don’t have to use your own imagination as all the facts are there. It doesn’t use any many metaphors as there is literally only one layer of depth to something. I don’t think that metaphorical language gets between reality and the reader. All people have different thoughts on the metaphors etc. So the outcome of one extract will be different to that off others. How to cite Passages for Comment, Essay examples

Android Mobile Devices 3D Standards

Question: Describe about the Android Mobile Devices for 3D Standards. Answer: Introduction The work has been done on the designing, implementing and the playtest which is a simpler 3D test for the gaming for the Android mobile devices. This is based on the instructions to work for the game for the Mario 3D standards. It includes the legally sourced graphics, sound effects and music where the game should easily demonstrate competency in the overall concepts where the game has been for implementing features from the demonstration and game designing. (Rayes et al., 2016). The work has been done in Unity where the software development has been for bump mapping, reflection mapping, parallax and the dynamic shadows. The specific fall-back specification that allows the Unity to detect the best variant for the current video hardware. The Unity is set with the software development which includes the 3D Mario game with the visuals and music for receiving high praise. Observations during the Play testing For the Mario Game 3D in Unity, there are different challenges which are for the collection of different points. You need to go to the different steps to unlock some stages which is an interesting part to complete the game. My colleagues liked my work and appreciated it as there is something new after every step. The graphics installed in it are interesting as they are also able to play and check on with the mystery boxes as well which are sometimes for the life and sometimes just for the points. (Noblet et al., 2016). The player with maximum points win. The mystery box reset after the amount of the clock reset and there are different layouts which could be selected in the game. The handy item is for the collection of star medals with completing the game by using maximum number of the points which are carried to the next level as well. A proper background voice has been provided in the game to detect and analyse that the timer is going to end and if the player does not complete the s tage, then the player dies and have to play the game again. The Mario game has to be played in a very strategic manner so that one is moving in the right direction with appropriate moves as well. The cooperative gameplay calling back is one of the best feature where there is huge multiplayer platform set to work on the game mechanics. (Silva et al., 2016). The multiplayer experience has been timeline and the designer and player has been able to make it a successful play as well. With the same, there have been certain other next platforms which are surprising but interesting as well for the people to enjoy. The character tracking with proper interaction is with the delightful designers. The delightful designers can cause me lose the track of the character with the appreciating details of Mario game which has been built in Unity. With the holistic 3D game play, it has been seen that there is a need to set the skills with the three-dimensional concepts where the project source code and the art where there are enhanced learning experience. The work has been done in Unity which allows the proper standards set for the texture compression and the resolution settings in effective manner. The detection is through the alternative shaders with the better performance standards. Unity is able to work on the different platforms to control the delivery for the mobile devices, web browsers, consoles and the desktops. (Jimenez et al., 2016). The game has been controlled with the development to work on the forward direction control with the effective time to allow the players for a better experience. The performance is of different types which is times and enabled through the quick completion of the times. The special blocks are for the players who could easily encounter that it is easy to complete the jumps which is mainly for the beginner players. The control of the game is divided by the development team to work on one-time payment with the micro-transaction approach (which is possible) for playing the game on smart phones. The release is with the announcement of the game that shores higher after there have been revenue standards set for the game. (Hainey et al., 2014). Comments of the Play testers There have been distinctive characters which are used in the game where the players also develop the favourites for the characters. It depends on the difficulty level where there is an amazing start to enjoy the playing of the game. The improvement is on the levels of designing where there are certain alternative paths to course and check on pursuing with the same. The start is with the power up requirements where one is able to store the backups as well for the different partners in the game. The multiplayer gaming is a thorough and observant task where it is important to accommodate the other player and one needs to work on the collection rate depending upon how to achieve the same. (Noblet et al., 2016). There have been collections of the different crowns and the points where it is possible to enjoy the multiplayer mode with the effective controller rotation that is presented in the experience. The improvement is with Mario 3D gaming which is worked on through the walkthrough, blu eprint layouts, intro screen start screen game levels, victory screen. The working of the web building with the bug free standards and a better presentation, loss screen with the option to replay, start or qut has been one of the best interactive platform for the user. The GUI and the Interface has been worked on in an interactive manner in the game and the menus for working on the web build structure in an effective manner. (Machado et al., 2015). For the proper setup and designing, there is a need to create the different levels where the goals are important to be set as per the use of the assets availability. The fun and the focus is to add new items where the picking up of an item for Mario add the extra live or Power up. This is an interactive stage where the porting of the brick object is mainly from 2D gaming to the 3D Mario Gaming. The extra credits are for the live combo moves like the turn or the jump, ground pound etc. It ultimately adds to the feedback of the player where the possibility is the flash of the player when it gets hit and an addition of the new art asset to the game with the customised behavioural component. The project description includes the details of the website completion with the Unity Forum standards to handle the project and its details as per the research, art, designing, coding and play testing. (Jimenez et al., 2016). The working has been on the different device activation with the frameworks , game engines and the resources, codeless development platforms. The key resources and the tools is important for the promotional networks that can help in a better mobile support. The knowledge is with the cross platform where there are usual drag and drops which use the simple event based phenomenon. Ideas for improving the Game There is always a scope for improvement in every game where the possibility is set with the community approval before acting upon the idea and making the proposal for the same. The announcement for the reaching of the level with help in defining the stage with more makers in the game for the different levels. A stretch with the weirder toys can be helpful for the game to make it more interactive. The chasing of the same and then working over the different mechanics can help in masking down the chase. (Covarrubias et al., 2015). The missed enemies can be preferred for being added with allowing the world creation at the different levels. The authentic experience is mainly to work on varying level of the designing skills which will be set through the dozens of different people from 1-1 and 8-4. The testing and the rule tweaking process is important for the person shooters with the lower gravity. There is a need to also focus on the levels that start with Mario and before it is possible to receive the bearings, Mario is seen to be dead. There have been different levels of the single-block platforms which works on the momentum turning the same into chore. The levels could easily be set at the fun level where there are tricky puzzles as well but one can also focus on the different checkpoints so that the player finds it difficult to reach the destination easily. The question blocks contains the enemies as well which can be added to the game with the designing that does not give any disincentives for exploring what has been created. The invisible blocks are for the negative purpose where they have been losing the track of the trapping in the jail where the jumps are for the flagpoles. The guess is about the game doors where one can easily lead to the complaints that are categorised in the positive feedback for the surprises. (Janoch et al., 2013). The clever tricks are about the characters to properly handle the players with the activation set without any boss. The ex perience is about the single UI where there are just some stores but one cannot move to the other stage. The bonus are seen to be hidden with the force that you can easily bomb the walls with the bush on the screen. It will also cost the destruction of the doors which is apocalyptic. The quality functioning results in working over the high quality care where one can easily provide the constrained resources in an effective manner. The gameplay is for the Mario Game where the longer the screen is touched, the easy and higher the Mario is able to jump. For the Mobile devices, it is a very interesting game and many features can be separately added to the same. The replay ability comes only from the collection of the normal coins and then finding the special coins at the different levels. The coins are for the collection and then unlocking them to collect the others. The main game is about the ghost versions where the time attack has been set for the different modes to use the buying of items for the creating and customising the standards. The tools and the development is based on different completing levels with different approach where the development of the growth for the mobile market has a major impact on the performance as well. (Demaine et al., 2016). Conclusion The designing is based on the maximised ability, intriguing and the rewarding of the skills and the reactions. It works on handling the gaming where there are different level of designs to work on the failure and success. Unity I also for the projects to control the delivery of the mobile devices, web browsers and the desktops. The physical standards are for the bundling process with the including of full-screen post processing effects. Unity has been worked on handling the 2D and the 3D games which are for the different guidelines. The Mario 3D is for the three-dimensional geometry with the materials and textures rendered for the different surface of the game object. (Ortega et al., 2013). With this, there has been possibility to move the scene freely with the lighting and shadow casting. The 3D games have been for the rendering of the scenes where the object are appearing on screen with which they will get close to the camera. The Idea Of Women In Combat Is Not Unusual Anymore. Essays

The idea of women in combat is not unusual anymore. They should be able to hold combat positions beacause although physical strength matters, the military still needs the intelligence that women can bring. Also, banning women from the combat hurts their military careers. Although women account for only ten percent of the enlisted personnel (Time, 8/21/95/ Pg. 31), they are still a major part in the armed forces. Their performance recently has generated support from Congress and the public for enhancing the role of females in the military. During the Persian Gulf War, women were sent to the Middle East to fly helicopters, service combat jets, refuel tankers, and load laser-guided bombs. Their performance has led the world to realize that women are extremely useful in combat. Defense secretary Dick Chaney said "Women have made a major contribution to this [war] effort. We could not have won without them." Leaders in the field agreed. The Gulf War had the largest deployment of women in the armed forces in history. These women encountered the same risks as the men they served with. Twenty one females lost their lives (Holm, Women in Combat: The New Reality, pg. 67-68). In the Persian Gulf, there were no exact positions and all areas were equally vulnerable, so the idea of safe havens for women was not really applicable. By many armed forces policies, females are banned from combat jobs and units, but in the Persian Gulf War females were assigned to battleships, aircraft carriers, and marine support groups dug into the desert. From their experience in the Persian Gulf, military women have earned the right to be treated as equals with men and not as protected individuals. In spite of their record as able combat personnel, there are laws and policies that restrict women in the United States Military from serving in positions that require them to engage in direct combat. Women in the Air Force and Navy are barred from aircraft and vessels that have a chance to be exposed to combat. The official, established policies of the Army and Marine Corps exclude women from combat (Snyder, pg. 75-76). These policies prohibit women, on the basis of gender only, from over twelve percent of the skill positions and thirty-nine percent of the total positions offered by the Department of Defense. Such policies excluding women from combat need to be repealed by Congress. The Fourteenth Amendment's "Equal Protection Clause" insures every citizen "the equal protection of the laws." Although the clause is not applicable to Federal government, the Supreme Court said the Due Process Clause in the Fifth Amendment prohibits the federal government from making unreasonable classifications. Therefore the set laws and policies that exclude women from combat not only violate the Fifth Amendment, but also deny women their fundamental right to engage and excel in their chosen occupation. There have been many court cases involving women in combat over the years, although there has never been a case directly challenging the constitutionality laws and regulations banning women from combat. In the case of Frontiero vs. Richardson, the court rejected the idea that "man is, or should be, woman's protector or defender," which in actuality, put women not on a pedestal, but in a cage. In Satty vs. Nashville Gas Co., the decision stated that gender does not determine who is able to perform capably as a soldier. In the case of Schlesinger vs. Ballard, it was realized by the Supreme Court that the combat exclusion hinders the abilities of women to gain the experience needed for promotion within the military. The combat exclusion puts women wishing to obtain qualification for high-level positions at a disadvantage, because leadership training is usually acquired in combat-type positions. Although many females are not eager to go into combat, there are women who can and want to do the job. In a time where technology takes over battle lines and brains might be more important than brawn, a reason to exclude women is non-existant. 5 Myths about an Essay Writer Who Does Model Papers for You

5 Myths about an Essay Writer Who Does Model Papers for You 5 Myths about an Essay Writer Who Does Model Papers for You Have you ever wondered what an essay writer has in terms of qualifications? Many students are curious about hiring an essay writer but they are hesitant because of the many myths out there relating to the services they provide. There are 5 myths which will be debunked for you about an essay writer who does model papers for you: All Writers Are from India While it is true that there are many writers from India who handle model papers on behalf of students, not all writers come from that area. In fact, many writing services allow students to choose between native speakers and non-native speakers. Native speakers are generally more expensive while non-native speakers are cheaper. Those who fall under the category of non-native writers do not come necessarily from India but might be from Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Kenya. These are all popular places for non-native speakers to work online. Essay Writers Have Bad English It is not fair to state that any writer you select online will have bad English. There are many who do, but you need to carefully choose a custom writing service with good reviews, good feedback, good experience, and writers who have an extensive resume as a part of the company. Writers, who have extensive experience in the academic field, and positive feedback from happy clients, will have good English skills and are typically native speakers. Writers Don’t Make Any Changes This is not necessarily true. It happens with bad services and companies which fail to offer comprehensive and experienced providers. But those companies which are good will make changes if you ask them, and, in fact, many services have substantial revision policies as a part of the original agreement which means that a custom writer is required to provide you with the revisions you want. Writers Give Pre-Written Essays If you select a good writing service as well as a great writer, they will make sure that you get a high quality essay which has been written from scratch. Essay Writers Take Little Money for Their Work If you really want an experienced writer, you will have to pay for the cost of high quality work. If you are paying a cheap price, it is probably for a pre-written essay. So be prepared to get high quality work at a price. That being said, there are many writing services which offer custom essay writers who are qualified, provide unique papers, and speak English as their native language. It is really up to you to search for the best companies available based on reputation and experience before you hand over your payment for a model paper.

Inhumanity against Jews in the Shakespeare era evident in Merchant of Essay - 1

Inhumanity against Jews in the Shakespeare era evident in Merchant of Venice - Essay Example But in a study, Jami Rogers contends that â€Å"Shakespeare, however, did not write a one-dimensional villain, but a complex character who defies explanation and who will probably never be fully understood† (1). Theaters of Shakespeare’s society had a long tradition of portraying the Jews in as greedy, usurer, and Machiavellian. But Shakespeare indiscernibly appends a new humanizing tone to his contemporary trend of Judaic portrayal that upholds a Jew character as melodramatic. Not disheartening the audience who were accustomed to view the Jews as the biblical traitors of Jesus, Shakespeare has frequently has drawn their attention to the inhuman part of his society’s attitude and behaviors towards them both in Shylock’s own word and in the plot construction of the play. Following the long cherished tradition of the theaters of his era, Shakespeare has characterized Shylock as a typical villain who is even convicted with the intention of murder. At some points Shylock can be considered as the reflection of his society’s antagonism towards him. Though inhumanly behavior of the society towards Shylock becomes outweighed by the biblical allusion of a Jew traitor hungry for a Christian’s blood, the audience is frequently reminded of the fact that Shylock is the most oppressed victim of the society’s injustice. As a part of this reminder, Shakespeare makes Shylock speak in support of the Jews humanly existence in spite of the cultural and racial difference: I am a Jew. Hath not a Jew eyes? Hath not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions; fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer as a Christian is? Shakespeare shows that a man like, continually facing his fellow people’s hatred and, antagonistic and humiliating behavior like spitting, stoning,

Exploring the use of outdoor play to support children's development in Dissertation

Exploring the use of outdoor play to support children's development in a nursery in Beckton - Dissertation Example Being able to play outdoors was perceived to be good for one’s health and well-being. The respondents reported that supervision of outdoor play entailed challenges in keeping the environment safe for the children, adding variety to their play and keeping them appropriately dressed for whatever weather there is during their outdoor play. Analysis of the data led to recommendations of using a bigger number of participants, improvement of the questionnaire and using focus group interviews to yield more qualitative insights from practitioners in the early years. Purposes and Aims This study purports to explore how outdoor play supports children’s development in one nursery school in Beckton. This children’s centre caters to very young children aged two to five years. Being aware that play serves many purposes for children (Bruce, 2004; Eden, 2008; Wood & Attfield, 2005), this research wants to explore first-hand, what teachers, practitioners, parents and children the mselves think about outdoor play and how it is beneficial to them and children’s growth and development. Most studies focus on the benefits of play, however, not many studies specifically refer to outdoor play, especially those which are unstructured. Some studies focus on the safety of outdoor play (White, 2008; Clements, 2004).Allowing young children to play freely out in the sun without much physical constraints offered indoors may yield behaviours and outcomes which are not usually studied. This is the rationale for the choice of research – to find out more about what outdoor play can do to support children’s early development and how adults around them view outdoor play Outdoor play is differentiated with indoor play by the venue and nature of the play experience. As the word implies, outdoor play is held outdoors, with less physical constraints and more space to move around. The literature likens the outdoors to a garden (Herrington, 2001; Froebel, 1898; W ood & Attfield, 2005) where large motor play is encouraged (Wellhousen, 2002). Outdoor play has been found to provide several benefits for children, among these, physical gains, promotion of spirituality, independence, critical thinking and enhancement of children’s love for nature (Lindon, 2000; Faegre et al, 1958). It also is a natural motivation for social interaction with peers. This research will be useful for teachers, parents, caregivers and other adults involved in the care and education of young children. Their young wards are at the stage when they are curious, physically active and restless to find out more about their world. This research attempts to bring light to the topic of outdoor play and provide ideas to adults on how they can use outdoor play to support the children’s over-all growth and development. This research is conducted to find out the following: How is outdoor play used to support the children’s development? What are the possible bene fits of outdoor play? What are the possible challenges in provision for outdoor play? Data Results and Discussion of Findings This section presents the results of the study as well as discusses its implications for outdoor play and its significance in the development of young children as viewed by teachers and practitioners, parents and the children themselves. Presentation of findings culled from raw

The importance of the theory of Keynesian Economics

The importance of the theory of Keynesian Economics The theory of economics called Keynesian Economics, or Keynesianism, is named after the British economist John Maynard Keynes. Keynes lived from 1883 1946, and was considered the greatest and most influential economist of the 20th century. (Kangas, 1996). It was the use of the Keynesian Theory of economics by the government that was a strong influence of the Great Depression coming to an end. Because of this, he is known as the father of modern economics. (Kangas, 1996). When Keynes first suggested the use of his theory to help solve the problems of the Great Depression, he was not met with the same enthusiasm. Because of the incredible size and widespread effects of the Great Depression, many felt that any cause of such devastation must be as complicated as the results. Keynes, however, had a simple explanation of the cause of the Great Depression. In fact, upon sharing his theory with President Franklin Roosevelt, the President dismissed his words by saying that such a theory is too easy. (Kangas, 1996). The theory for which was considered too easy (Kangas, 1996) by President Roosevelt was actually fairly simple. In regards to the explanation of slumps in the economy, Keynes had a simple reasoning. Keynes explained that in any normal economy, the level of employment is high, and therefore the earnings of the people are spent as usual, meaning there is a circular flow of money in the economy. With this circular flow, the money spent by one person becomes the income of another person, and those earnings are spent and become the earnings of the previous person. However, when something happens in the economy to worry consumers and shake their confidence, those consumers will then decide to save their money instead of spending it to prepare for whatever lies ahead. Unfortunately the saving of that consumer will affect other people because the money saved instead of spent is no longer given to the intended person. When people save instead of spend, it affects others that are no longer gett ing the expected income, and they will then start saving themselves. It becomes a viscous circle which makes the times and economy more difficult. (Kangas, 1996). With the obviously negative effects that a slump would cause within an economy, Keynes devised a cure for the problem. The cure for this problem, which is also considered to be quite simple, is for banks to increase or expand the supply of money. By doing so, the people would have more money, which would increase confidence in the economy by the consumer now having more earnings. With the increased confidence, people would begin to spend, which would re-establish the circular flow of money. (Kangas, 1996). The larger problem of the Great Depression, however, was much larger than that of a recession, or slump. Keynes belief of the depression was that it was actually a recession that had fallen into something called a liquidity trap. (Kangas, 1996). A liquidity trap is due to those people that choose to save their money rather than spend, and will continue to do so regardless of how much the supply of money is increased by the government. Due to the lack of consumer spending, Keynes believed that the government should then be the one doing the spending, since the consumers were not. This idea of increasing government spending was considered a final effort by the government to reestablish the circular flow of money. (Kangas, 1996). In Keynes own words, he called this last-ditch effort by the government, priming the pump. (Kangas, 1996). Although in the end Keynes theories were used to end the Great Depression, they were at first rejected. To many economists, the end of the Great Depression was caused by World War II, in which the United States started spending massive amounts of money on defense. Because of this, many say that wars are good for the economy. (Kangas, 1996). Wars are considered to cause an economic boom due to the massive amounts of spending during the war, which is in extent the definition of Keynesian spending. With Keynesian spending, the U.S. went to the greatest economic boom ever, from the greatest depression ever, all due to the theory of Keynesian Economics. The use of Keynesian Economics during this time was so successful that President Nixon declared, We are all Keynesians now. (Kangas, 1996). This view of Keynesian Economics was dominant from the 1940s to the 1970s, until others began to challenge this theory. (Boyes Melvin, 2008, p.347). In an explanation of Keynesian Economics by Alan S. Blinder (2008), he defines Keynesian Economics as a theory of total spending in the economy (called aggregate demand) and its effects on output and inflation. Upon researching Keynesian Economics, there appear to be many principal ideas to the theory. The first idea, or belief, is that aggregate demand is influenced by a host of economic decisions both public and private and sometimes behaves erratically. (Blinder, 2008). These economic decisions are based on things like spending and taxes. Many economists believe that both taxes and spending affect aggregate demand. (Blinder, 2008) Another belief of Keynesian Economics is that changes in aggregate demand, whether anticipated or unanticipated, have their greatest short-run effect on real output and employment, not on prices. (Blinder, 2008). This idea is shown when inflation slowly rises as unemployment falls. This belief of Keynesians is that what can be seen in the short run is not necessarily the same as the long run. Also, due to the rigidity of prices, any changes or fluctuations in spending, whether by government spending, investment, or consumption, will cause a change or fluctuation of output. For example, if there is an increase in government spending, then an increase in output should occur, as long as the other areas of spending are constant. (Blinder, 2008). In addition, this model of Keynesian economics also has a multiplier effect. With this multiplier effect, output increases by a multiple of the original change in spending that caused it. (Blinder, 2008). For this multiplier to work, however, it must not be less than zero. Also, in yet another belief of Keynesians is that prices, and especially wages, respond slowly to changes in supply and demand, resulting in periodic shortages and surpluses, especially of labor. (Blinder, 2008). In this belief, it is stated that flexibility is limited in terms of wages and prices, no matter the arrangements. (Blinder, 2008) These beliefs are all included in the theory of Keynesian Economics. Although this theory was greatly used during the 1940s to the 1970s, it became much less commonly used, and was replaced with other economic theories. Since then, however, the theory of Keynesian Economics had made a comeback. The main reason for this comeback was due to the ability of this theory to explain the events that have happen since the end of the Great Depression better than many other economic theories. (Blinder, 2008). In conclusion, the theory of Keynesian Economics was an extremely important part of the history of the economy. This theory was an enormous part of the end of the Great Depression. It also was a key in giving an explanation to the various changes in the economy, such as slumps and recessions. While not all economists may agree that this theory is the way to correct problems in the economy, it was very obviously the correct theory needed for its time. Because of the importance of this theory, the creator of the theory, John Maynard Keyes, is considered the father of modern economics. (Kangas, 1996).

Baderman Island Essay

Baderman Island is a vacationers dream, beautiful landscaping on the shore of the Kelsey river. The island offers three different hotels to choose from. For the more active, the island offers golf or a leisurely stroll through the immense botanical garden. To help a visitor immerse themselves into the tranquility of the island one can enjoy a relaxing visit to the Oasis Spa. On the surface this appears to be paradise, upon further investigation one can find many small problems Baderman should face if they would like to have a strong return customer base. Disappointment was caused by a faulty transportation system around the island and minor electrical issues. These nuisances absolutely need to be dealt with immediately. Baderman is reviewing the hiring policies and goals for employees, investing in the future of Baderman by investigating new methods in the hiring process. The company will be following the strict guidelines provided by government agencies. The company will also update the recruitment strategies and attempt to employ the best candidates available. Hiring Policies and Goals†¢Follow EEOC guidelines, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability, military status or other categories that are considered protected by federal, state or local law. †¢Ensure that the hiring of individuals is based on equal rights and allow for the advancement of employees based on merit, skills, and performance. †¢Provide public announcements for open positions within the organization. †¢Provide benefits, compensation, training and other employment privileges on an equal opportunity basis. †¢Interview all candidates that meet the minimum requirements as posted in the job announcement. †¢Allow for internal and or external posting of positions based on business need. †¢Evaluate managers and supervisors on their compliance to the hiring policies of the company. Hiring ProcessHiring Manager is responsible for the constant growth of the company. Continuous development is dependent upon the recruitment of qualified individuals by supervisory staff. The following process must be followed when hiring new and internal employees. The following process must be followed when hiring new and internal employees. Before posting an open position the impact of the budget must be considered. A request must be sent to the general manager of the department for approval. Managers must submit a detailed job description with customization necessary for the particular job, and include an ergonomics assessment necessary for the job in question. The island has no issues with hiring relatives of an employee. However, a manager may not interview, hire or supervise any of his or her family membersLegal Compliance of StrategiesBoardman Management Group (BMG) recruiting and hiring strategies are clearly stated, on their human resource web page, that they have good awareness of legal issues related with recruiting and hiring process. The human resource department of BMG recognizes the importance of diversity in the organization and being compliant with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) guidelines. Boardman Management Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer, which means that they cannot base difference in pay on an employee’s age, sex, race, or other protected status. By keeping the goal of equal pay for equal work in sight, BGM is working within the guidelines that are overlooked by the EEOC. The organization also ensures that advancement of employees is based on merit, skills, and performance; however, in the event of favoritism has been suspected, BGM has contracted a legal counsel to help ensure all EEOC guidelines have been upheld. When legal disputes occur, companies are given the opportunity to settle with the employee with the assistance of a mediator or on his or her own. The EEOC will sometimes offer the services of a mediator, who will not represent either of parties, but only help open up communications between them. The BGM Human Recourse Manager would notify his or her legal counsel for the  appropriate action, which could be handled through the EEOC or may require further legal attention. Recruitment StrategiesBaderman Island Resort is a unique opportunity for employees’. Recruits who would want a rewarding job in a relaxed atmosphere, with a successful highly qualified management team Baderman is the place. Baderman Island’s employment management team Boardman Management Group human resources (BMG-HR) has a challenge in recruiting staff that are willing to live on an island have a genuine desire to treat guests and visitors warmly and professionally, function as a team player, and have the personal discipline to do what is needed. Even though the atmosphere on the island is relaxed and carefree for the benefit of the guests, staff must understand that it takes hard work and personal determination to bring this tone to guests and visitors. With these goals in mind Baderman’s recruitment must focus on methods that bring quality employees to the island. BMG-HR must respect and acknowledge individual attributes and values that each employee brings to the job during the recruiting process as well as the professional skills exhibited. The marriage between personality and ability to perform a selected job is a balance that has to be met in order for the employee to offer his or her best to all guests and visitors. In order for Baderman Island Resort to continue to contact and hire a high performance staff they might consider broadening their recruiting area so there will be a larger pool of high quality staffing options to draw from. Higher quality staffing options means less employee turnover, fewer dissatisfied employees and customers, and a customer satisfaction rate which will increase Baderman’s bottom line. A couple recruiting strategies that Baderman might want to consider to increase it’s staffing pool would be: job fairs, off-season weekend invitations to lure potential job candidates to take a closer look at the Island and keeping a potential staff file for future needs. Currently, BMG-HR recruitment process’s are well thought out and meets  federal and state regulations but the process should be implemented on an as needed basis. Recruitment plans that cover future needs should also be set in place to cover potential growth, loss of employees, or other changes within the organization. Treating recruitment of potential employees like a marketing campaign that would suggest to them that the company values all staff members should be considered also. The strategy here would be to woo candidates with the idea that Baderman Resort is an excellent place to work and employee satisfaction is as important as any other goal Baderman Resort’s may have. Because the Resort is a service orientated organization it makes sense that happy and content employees will make for happy and content customers. Staffing StrategiesThe Baderman Company is well on its way to expanding its local business and in the international market. Baderman’s customers come to the resort expecting to relax and enjoy the activities and amenities. Excellent customer service and qualified personnel is extremely important, therefore, hiring the right individual’s is a key component to Baderman’s success. Baderman has also paid attention to the comments of guests and realized the importance of communicating with them, thus bi-lingual candidates are given utmost consideration. Because of past issues, employees must be screened appropriately and possess adequately skills to perform their job efficiently. Working for a company that provides an atmosphere of relaxation and enjoyable activities is appealing to prospective employees. Baderman wants to ensure that new employee’s will reap the benefits of this work environment yet understand that their contribution is what keeps it flourishing. Baderman knows the resort industry requires employees of various skills and knowledge at every level of the company. This includes hotel management, sales and marketing representatives, customer service providers, and cleaning and maintenance of the facilities and grounds. Baderman will use many avenues for its staffing strategy. It will ensure top management is qualified employees with appropriate experience in growing companies. Top management must be familiar with local, state and government  laws and be committed to ensuring the company is in compliance at all times. It will allow these individuals to help strategize on how to meet the company objectives and provide the resources to enhance the business through future trends and technology advances. Bonus incentives will be offered to help motivate these individuals as well as a lucrative long-term incentive to help share in the company’s growth. Baderman will provide an above average pay scale and career advancement for middle management. They will be offered yearly bonus packages for meeting company budgets and opportunities to grow within the company depending on the management of assigned teams in meeting company objectives. They will also be trained on compliance issues and challenged to meet, and exceed them at all times. Because of the importance placed on a manager to lead those reporting to a middle manager, HR will provide yearly courses to enhance his or her knowledge of supervising. The management teams will also be provided coaching throughout the year to support the challenges they are faced with. Baderman will work towards helping the frontline positions by providing temporary housing on the island for these employees as well as transportation to and from the local ports. Since these type of positions are the lowest paying yet will make up most of the workforce, this will also help the surrounding communities. These employees will also be given educational and training opportunities to help increase their job skills and allow them to grow within the company if that is the desire of the employee. Baderman management is stressing the importance of communication with the guests. Baderman is offering language classes to the employees, enabling them to communicate in the customer’s native language. Because French and Spanish are languages that many of Baderman’s guests speak, bilingual employees will be given additional compensation for their contribution to a multi-lingual environment. All employees who support Baderman’s core values which include a â€Å"strive for  excellence† customer service attitude, produce quality product, a high standard for work ethics, a team player, honest and have integrity, being a leader in all aspects of their conduct will be recognized formally and through compensation, plus medical benefits, internal and external training programs, career path incentives, educational reimbursement, family benefits and personal growth opportunities. ConclusionBaderman boasts itself on the fact that the island is an international tourist destination. However, the lack of language skills has caused major issues and undue stress for the customers. Baderman has implemented language training classes for the employees but what the island should do is invest in customer service agents who are fluent in several languages in order to place the customer needs to the forefront, thus lessening customer dissatisfaction. HR realizes the importance of diversity and has implemented an organization wide diversity-friendly attitude and welcomes all talented, committed employees as per EEOC guidelines. The goals Baderman’s recruitment and staffing strategy will focus on recruiting quality employees stressing the customer satisfaction. Hiring the right individual’s is a key component to Baderman’s success. References Noe, R. A., Hollenbeck, J. R., Gerhart, B., & Wright, P. M. (2004). Fundamentals of Human Resource Management. Europe and its Relationship with the World

Europe and its relationship to the universe From the clip through early 1800’s to early 1900’s, Europe has changed a batch in many parts. Such as the Gallic revolution and the Spanish and Lusitanian are seeking to set up their settlement, to distribute their ain civilization and faith like Christian. There are, undouble, a batch of advancements during that clip that can decidedly be found, while the definition of advancement can be understood in different manner, there are non merely positive advancement, but besides a batch of negative advancement. In European’s thought at that clip, they decidedly think the advancement is positive, while for those indigens who live in European settlement they may happen a batch of unjust and see this advancement that made by Europe is negative. We can non deny the benefit that the Europe has made at that clip, but to see the relationship between Europe and the universe between 1800-1914 negative advancements are more obvious because of European industrialisation and impe rialism. A batch of illustrations can be found during 1800- 1914 to demo the imperialism of Europeans is non accepted by the indigens. We can see Europeans at that clip were non so successful when they are seeking to construct the relationship with Africa. From the novel â€Å"Thingss Fall Apart†[ 1 ] by Chinua Achebe, the writer writes about how the Europeans treated Africans in an unjust manner, from the age of industrialisation. Europeans arrived in West Africa non for peace but for the slaves, they want enslave the Africans and allow them go the free labour for Europe and work for Europe.Achebe showed how the native react when they hear about the Europeans, â€Å" We have heard narratives about white work forces who made the powerful guns and the strong drinks and took slaves away across the seas, but no 1 thought the narratives were true † [ 2 ] ( Ch. 15 Achebe ) . We can see the Africans do non even think Europeans as one of world will handle their compatriots as slaves, b ut they were incorrect. In the terminal of the novel, we can see there was about no effectual advancement has been made between the Africans and the Europeans. In the antonym, the Europeans really had destroyed all the good hopes to the European that Africans used to hold and convey war to them non merely for their land but besides for their faith. In the book Okonkwo says to Obrierika, â€Å"He [ Europeans ] came softly and pacifically with his faith. We were amused at his folly and allowed him to remain. Now he has won our brothers and our kin can no longer move like one † [ 3 ] ( Ch. 20 Achebe ) . The Europeans usage means to change over some members of the indigens to Christianity, but cause other indigens to detest Christian. To be honest, we can non happen any positive advancement that was made between the Europeans and the Africans because the selfishness of Europeans make they took advantage of indigens land and labour but merely convey goods to their ain state. In add-on, we besides can happen this unfair in the novel â€Å"This Earth of mankind† which writes about a immature adult male, Minke, who can populate a instead simple life as a pupil in a Dutch high school in Surabaya, Indonesia. Although he is one of the few Natives who surveies in his school, he still do non lose confident for himself. But Minke’s life begins to alter when he meets and falls in love with the most beautiful miss he has of all time seen. Annelies is a mixed-blood girl of a Native and a European man of affairs. Her female parent as a native learn several sorts of linguistic communication and truly outstanding. When Minke’s relationship with Ann grows deeper, people of the town start to state he and Annelies is illegal, but even his life is threatened and he is brought to the tribunal, he still continues to contend against the unfairnesss of the authorities, non merely want to win but to support humanity and its rights. Although Minke and Anneli es eventually lose but they do demo to this Earth of world a great illustration that racism will ne'er be a good manner to handle people and justness will eventually come. This is a great novel that shows how people fight against for their right. Different from â€Å"Thingss Fall Apart†, â€Å"this Earth of mankind† [ 4 ] shows a negative advancement of Europe’s imperialism has cause but show us a positive attitude about how to defy the unfairness under the imperialism. This article shows the hope and the imperialism will eventually do Europe lose the people. Jules Ferry besides talks about the enlargement of colonial and what character should the Europeans had if they want to success, â€Å"In a Europe, or instead in a universe therefore constituted, a policy of backdown or abstinence is merely the high route to decadence! † [ 5 ] ( On French Colonial Expansion ) . This sort of procedure did non better the relationships but merely hindered the advancement of the dealingss between Europe and the universe. Besides from the information of â€Å"Chadwick ‘s Report on Sanitary Conditions† , â€Å"That the one-year loss of life from crud and bad airing are greater than the loss from decease or lesions in any wars in which the state has been engaged in modern times† [ 6 ] Shows the bad wellness conditions in Europe during that clip. These may be caused by the excessively many settlements and will besides convey this disease to those who are indigens that ne'er run into such diseases. It is difficult to state it is pos itive or negative, but it does do bad consequence on indigens. The industrialisation besides causes jobs for Europe. No 1 can deny the importance of industrialisation, because without it all of our modern machines can be a gag, but Karl Marx besides show the injury that industrialisation cause to the lower degree people. In his article â€Å"Manifesto of the Communist Party† , he pointed out that with the higher development of the industrialisation, it non merely makes mass production more easy but besides increase the spread between the rich and the hapless. In his article he said â€Å"From the minute when labour can no longer be converted into capital, money, or rent, into a societal power capable of being monopolized, i.e. , from the minute when single belongings can no longer be transformed into bourgeois belongings, into capital, from that minute, you say, individuality vanishes† [ 7 ] which shows the struggle between the labours and the upper degree. His sentiment about revolution can besides be regard as possible crisis of the Europe. So half positive and half negative is what the history’s rating about industrialisation. But there is some positive advancement that Europe did throughout the 19Thursdayand 20Thursdaycentury is in footings of women’s rights. At the pervious age adult females were treated with about zero regard before the Revolution started. Womans do non hold the same rights as adult male, they merely see as accoutrement of work forces. But sometimes they were besides â€Å"used† like work forces, or even requested higher than adult male like work longer than adult male with fewer pay. Women and kids were seen making the â€Å"same sort of belowground work, and to work for the same figure of hours, as male childs and men† [ 8 ] ( Women Miners ) . The adult females dress like work forces, work as work forces but still can non win their regard. The Revolution did alter the manner that adult females were used to handle a batch because after the revolution adult females had their freedom and rights, which is pretty easy but was ne'er heard before the 1800’s. This is decidedly a positive advancement Europeans have made. The advancement of the European industrialisation, imperialism and their relationship with the universe in decision can be regard as negative. Europeans destroyed civilisations for doing their civilization and benefits. Use other’s labour for their ain selfishness. When they find a manner that suits them best, they did non waver to handle others like African below the belt. The Africans were enslaved like they are non human at all. In add-on, the civil war that was caused by Gallic Revolution besides affected France’s relationship with other European states by impacting each other’s issues such as trade ( Lecture ) [ 9 ] . Positive advancement was made by Europeans by successfully bettering their finicky conditions and giving suited rights to the adult females, but even for these positive advancements, they are still made for their ain state and society non for other settlements. So wholly in all, the selfishness dominates the Europeans and makes their advancemen t connected with the universe at 1800-1914 negative
